Ship’s Log: Entry No. 003 - Christmas at the Public Gardens

The Christmas Market at the Saint John Public Gardens has been an absolute joy for us these past weekends. Three glowing greenhouses, local vendors, mulled wine, festive lights — and even a visit from Santa — have made this event something truly special.

What makes it even more meaningful is knowing that proceeds support a great cause: the community Public Gardens and Rockwood Park through the Saint John Horticultural Association. It’s a market that not only brings holiday cheer, but also strengthens the spaces that make this city feel like home.

As newcomers to Saint John, we’ve been overwhelmed by how kind and welcoming everyone has been — vendors, visitors, neighbours, volunteers. It’s a reminder of why we came here in the first place. Rising Tide Tea has always been about more than tea — it’s about connection, story, and place. We chose Saint John because of its deep-rooted tea heritage, its remarkable history, and the incredible resurgence happening across the city. We wanted to be part of that momentum, to contribute, to engage, and to build something alongside the community that has welcomed us in.

And with only one weekend left, it’s the perfect time to visit. Bring the kids, enjoy a Christmas treat with the family, sip hot chocolate, warm up by the fire, and catch a festive movie on the big screen. Wander the greenhouses, meet incredible local makers, and soak in the magic of the season.

We’re proud to share our tea with you — but even prouder to be part of Saint John’s story.
